Iron Man 2

I finally got round to watching Iron Man 2 today. I didn’t re-watch Iron Man 1 and aside from remembering that I quite enjoyed it and that Pepper Potts is pretty cool, I don’t remember much else of it. So, I don’t know, if like some have said, if Iron Man 2 is less enjoyable… Continue reading »

Look what I found on the Internet!

Love this comment about those who reply to criticism or analysis of entertainment with “it’s just a show / movie / book!”. [Warning for language] Of all the varieties of irritating comment out there, the absolute most annoying has to be “Why can’t you just watch the movie for what it is??? Why can’t you… Continue reading »

Not Shocked or Awed

One of the problems with Avatar was that I’d seen it all before. I was wondering why I felt so underwhelmed by the so-called wonderful and advanced technical effects when JK pointed out that that’s probably because we’d seen stuff like this (maybe not so realistically) in various video games. And without the visual spectacle,… Continue reading »

While my head knew it was Matt Damon, I was never quite conscious of it throughout the movie. I loved the humour in the show and because I went in completely unspoiled, I… Continue reading »

Your heart is special

[Warning: Gore, flying body parts, lame dialogue, plotless plot. Spoilers for Ninja Assassin below.] Ninja facts: #1 – They can heal themselves. And others, should they feel like it. You can only kill them by slicing off key body parts (like their head a la Highlander). #2 – They are like Nightcrawler and can teleport… Continue reading »

Julie & Julia

I caught this movie on Thursday. The food was beautiful and the movie was somewhat entertaining. It didn’t delight me enough to make me want to catch it again though. Neither did it make me want to read the books it was based on. And like most reviewers, I much preferred the Julia Child half… Continue reading »

Fame

Watched Fame last night, without having read any of the reviews. Let’s just say I enjoyed the trailer (and the anticipation of the movie) more than the movie itself. I was most disappointed that the “Remember my name” song only came on over the closing credits and their final show wasn’t very exciting.

So Bad It’s Good

Apparently, I enjoy movies that are so bad it’s good. In fact, one day I will get my hands on MANOS: HANDS OF FATE! I also enjoy subjecting JK to these movies, which would explain why I bought the VCD of The Core and Dragonball Evolution so he could watch them with me. This is… Continue reading »
