Cooling Off Day

Too much political stuff on my blog these few days. It’s cooling off day so let’s cool off. Let’s have some eye-candy instead. This is why I watch Merlin (also, silly British humour amuses me + sword fights FTW)

Have more Arthur Pendragon! (Thank you Yoann Bui)

Have my favourite couple on the show! (Thank you made of gold)

And who can forget Gwaine who apparently will be fighting bare chested in at least one scene next series.  (Thank you squintyoureyes)

*Hyperventilate*

Yeah, I know I said I would keep my fangirling off my blog but it’s Comic-Con! And from all accounts, it was pretty awesome. I need to figure out a way to go there and keep my job. I mean, life is about experiences and this is really something I want to experience! This year, there was Merlin, Smallville & The Big Bang Theory. I would have loved to be at the panels. And the comics!

That said, I’m very thrilled because I managed to see the s3 Merlin trailer. It was EPIC. Ok, it probably wasn’t that epic but it certainly got me excited. I cannot wait for it to start again. Oh, and Smallville should be starting up as well and that should be fun as well, especially since it would be their last season.

Random Fangirl Nonsense

I’ve been binging on FMA: Brotherhood over the past few days. Not only have I watched all the subbed episodes that are showing on Animax, I’ve also been watching the English dubs, which I have to admit, has a charm of its own. Then I sit there and think about how great it would be if I could clap my hands and have cool things happen. I quite enjoy the plot of course and it has both humour and drama but I love the characters more. I like the bond between the two brothers and I really enjoy most of the supporting characters – in fact, I can’t think of any who annoy me (which is more than I can say about some other shows *ahemSmallvilleahem*). And there’s cool fighting which I always enjoy.

In other news, the cast and crew of Merlin are apparently back in France filming and the cast is looking adorable in the pictures again. So I’m a little excited at going there but also a bit wary. I mean, sometimes I think it’s a bit much isn’t it?

OOTS

I really need to get caught up on Order of the Stick. And maybe buy more merchandise.

Elan and Haley and Vaarsuvius and Roy and Belkar and Durkon and not forgetting the Monster in the Dark.

Haley is my favourite though because she’s female and she uses a bow. I love bows although frankly they suck in Dragon Age (which is another thing I need to catch up on). Bah.

Iron Man 2

I finally got round to watching Iron Man 2 today. I didn’t re-watch Iron Man 1 and aside from remembering that I quite enjoyed it and that Pepper Potts is pretty cool, I don’t remember much else of it. So, I don’t know, if like some have said, if Iron Man 2 is less enjoyable than the first one.

I do know that I enjoyed it quite a bit, especially after the first quarter or so of the show. Frankly, RDJ is great in such rows and I think I am very likely to be tempted to watch any movie with him in it. And Pepper Potts is just as cool. I’ve always loved the people in superhero comics who aren’t the heroes with fancy gadgets or powers but who hold their own nonetheless, people like Lois Lane and now Pepper Potts (or at least the movie version of her). Black Widow was pretty good as well although, unless they are planning to use her in the Avengers movie, I think the movie could do without her. But then again, more kick-ass women in the chauvinistic comic world, the better. I wasn’t sure about the casting of Don Cheadle initially because I quite liked his predecessor, Terrence Howard. However, he grew on me so that was ok in the end. All in all, although robot fighting isn’t quite my cup of tea, the show was mighty enjoyable and well worth the money I paid.

Of course, the company was good as well. :)

Speaking of superheroes, Smallville has just ended its 9th season. I’m amazed it lasted this long really and despite my continual annoyance and disappointment with it, I am happy that there is a Superman show on television. So there will be a season 10 and hopefully it will be a good one to send off the series. Maybe Tom Welling will don the primary colours. Also, perhaps some cable channel would like to bring the show to Singapore sooner instead of screening seasons from many years ago.
