This is simultaneously somewhat fascinating and creepy. One of the insects that I am quite nervous about are bees so seeing so many of them, even in a picture, gives me the shudders. That being said, seeing the bees build a beehive is still quite awesome.

Awesomeness
I discovered this website of 1000 awesome things which is basically a list of awesome things in life. I think it’s brilliant because a lot of the time, we fail to remember and appreciate the little things in life that are awesome.
Bye Bye Merlin
So I’ve decided that I need to move my fannish posts off this blog. If not, Merlin is going to take over the blog.
Some Random Thoughts
- Got hold of FF13! Yay me! Except I haven’t actually started to play it yet because I figured I would be a good teacher and do stuff like marking and setting exam papers. Still, the fact that it is sitting there waiting for me to play it makes me happy inside.
- A long time ago I blogged about being a female fan. This stupid, sexist facebook page is why I don’t usually tell others I game.
- Did I mention I got Disgaea 3 as well? Yeah it’s a little late and goodness, are the graphics crappy. So that’s yet another game to play. Plus I really, really want to conquer China in DW: Empires. So many games, so little time. :(
- I have this really long blog post about females in pop culture that I’ve been writing for weeks. At the rate it is going, I’ll never finish it.
- I miss my blog.
Squeee!
New Obsession
Heard this song used on a fanvid of Merlin. I love it. So tempted to buy her album now.

PortableApps
I’m probably discovering this very late but I need to express my love for PortableApps. I love having some of my favourite programmes available when I’m using the school-issued computer. Previously, I had to beg the TA to install stuff for me and wait until he was free. Now with PortableApps, I can use Songbird, FileZilla (haha, edit my blog at school) and Foxit Reader with little fuss.
Linkity Links
This article (and the accompanying videos) make me wanna watch The Big Bang Theory. The question now is how?
And here’s an article on Yotsuba&! for JK.
New Toys and Random Updates
I logged into my new MOE google apps account today and it was so exciting. Yeah, I get excited over the silliest things but I’m so thrilled with the possibilities of Google Docs and Calendar. The only thing is that now I have to attend some course on how to use them. Let’s hope the course would show me interesting (and new) stuff instead of just things I already know.
Oh and I got access to Google Wave but no one to wave with.
Another exciting thing in my life is Windows 7! Been using it for about 3 days now and it’s pretty. I haven’t explored it all yet but I like the snapping feature (Aero snap?) and the new task bar (smart bar I believe it is called). I just need a new wallpaper to pretty up my laptop.
Kiat bought himself Dragon Age and Football Manager and I bet he is having a ball of a time. I, on the other hand, am still somewhat obsessed with Disgaea and Civilisation IV. To the kind soul who lent me the game, I doubt you will be getting it back anytime soon. I haven’t actually played a PC RPG since Diablo II so while I’m quite intrigued by Dragon Age, I’m not sure if I now have the patience, time or the hand-eye coordination needed to play it. Still, the videos on YouTube are quite … interesting and everyone seems to love it.
In other news, yesterday was a crappy day having been stood up by my friends. Bleh. Not the first time either. Plus the shoes I was wearing were so uncomfortable. I wish there was some way I could tell if a pair of shoes would be comfy or not. It felt pretty comfy in the shop. Also, developed a bad headache at 10pm, missed the ArsenalĀ match and woke up really late with the same headache today. It has only now just gone, thanks to panadol and food.
Still, I caught the latest Merlin episode (which was fine but too dark and angsty for my tastes) and my sis cooked dinner – both of which cheered me up considerably. Plus, I should be having a fun birthday dinner on Tuesday.
I should work now really.
Scott Pilgrim
Ever since I started to seriously read comics again, I’ve been hearing of Scott Pilgrim. So I finally picked up a copy of the 1st volume two weeks ago. And I’ve finally finished it.
I found it vaguely amusing at parts and the art was appealing to me. Despite my love for super-powered fights, I thought those fight scenes actually pulled me out of the story instead of sucking me in. Supposedly, the second volume is better so I might actually give it another chance. If I still feel so meh about it, I doubt I’ll ever read the rest of it.
It’s funny I suppose. I like superhero comics but I find it quite difficult to get into any other genre of comics / graphic novels. Maus was ok. The Minx line that DC used to have was alright too but I never really liked them all that much. I have no appreciation for any of the classics-turned-into-graphic-novels books either. Never got into the Sandman. Don’t really read any manga. Strangely though I really like webcomics.
I do think that comics are a fun medium. Perhaps I just never got my hands on any non-superhero comics that would appeal to me.
